Just over a two-hour drive from Sitio de Calahonda, you can go from hot Andalusian summer to Andalusian winter in the peaks of the Sierra Nevada National Park.

This paradise mountain region is the perfect destination for winter sports enthusiasts, offering both skiing and snow sports.

The region is home to a number of wellness hotels, so guests of the Marberea Calahonda can spend a long weekend here before returning to the sunshine at the beach. The Sierra Nevada is Europe’s southernmost and one of its most unique ski resorts, home to Spain’s highest peak, the 3,479-metre Mulhacén. The ski runs range from 2100 to 3300 metres and are served by 19 lifts, including a ski run, gondola lifts, chair lifts and drag lifts.

The ski resort underwent a major renovation in 2024. Modern ski lifts, snow cannons, restaurants and electric car chargers await tourists.
The mountain was once home to Europe’s southernmost glacier, the Corral glacier. In summer, the Sierra Nevada‘s refreshing climate makes it a popular hiking destination, with temperatures ranging from 30 to 40 degrees Celsius at the bottom and a pleasant 20 degrees Celsius at the top. In spring, the peaks, almost 3,500 metres high, bloom with an unrivalled flora that will dazzle nature lovers. At three thousand metres, you are transported to another world that will change your perspective forever.
