Guests at the Marberea Calahonda are just a stone’s throw from neighbouring Fuengirola, one of the Costa del Sol’s most popular resorts. Its popularity is due to the wealth of services it offers and its easy accessibility.

Its main attraction is the Moorish castle of Sohail, which hosts summer theatre events, concerts and festivals. Fuengirola enjoys a particularly favourable climate, with a lively seaside atmosphere in summer and pleasant warmth and plenty of sunshine in winter. The 8 km long Paseo Marítimo Rey de España along the coast boasts an excellent choice of hotels and restaurants.

Fuengirola is a paradise for water sports lovers. Water skiing, skydiving and motorboat hire are all available at the town’s Marina office. The Blue Flag beach of Los Boliches is the busiest beach in the city in high season. Also a special attraction is the BioParc Fuengirola zoo, where visitors can roam among tropical forests and waterfalls, with leopards, tigers, gorillas and orangutans in a habitat similar to their natural habitat. The night-time opening hours offer a unique experience to observe species that are active at night. For families, there is also a farm and a large playground.
Fuengirola is also within easy reach of the surrounding cities, with local trains to Malaga departing every 20 minutes. There are also regular bus services to the west of the Costa del Sol and easy access to the more distant cities of Granada, Seville, Ronda, Cadiz and Cordoba.
