Caminito del Rey, the King’s Road, is located in the village of El Chorro, in the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes Natural Park in the province of Malaga. 58 km from Malaga.
The Caminito del Rey is one of its most popular natural attractions and the main rock-climbing centre of Europe. Its almost linear route runs along almost vertical walls at an average height of 100 metres, and consists of a suspension bridge with stunning views. The hiking trail is about 8 km long and takes about 3 hours to complete. The platform of the Caminito del Rey has recently been renovated and is safe to walk on. You can cross a wooden footbridge that stretches a hundred metres above the Guadalhorce River and links the Gaitanes Pass. Built between 1901-1905 to unite 2 waterfalls – Salto El Chorro and Salto del Gaitanejo. With the construction of the reservoir in the 1920s, the area became increasingly popular with visitors, which is no wonder, as there are stunning views from many points along the way.
